We are often asked to conduct individual assessments. There are many uses for these,
including candidate selection, promotion, career development, or position restructuring.
Format
A preparatory meeting is scheduled with the person or persons who will be utilizing the
information. Exact needs are determined based on the type of information sought. From
this, an instrument package is selected.
An interview is conducted with each individual who will complete the instruments.
Instruments are administered.
A private verbal debriefing is conducted with each individual who completed instruments.
This provides them with their scores and a brief explanation. This is a mandatory step but
is not considered to be comprehensive training of how they may be interpreted.
A verbal debriefing is conducted with the person or persons who will be utilizing the
information resulting form the interview, instruments and analysis. A written copy of the
scores provides background reference, while the verbal debriefing highlights the important
points of interpretation
We often use graphs during both debriefings. They may show individual results or, in
some cases, comparisons between or among individuals. Following is an example of one graph
from a recently conducted assessment.
